Read Aloud is a Chrome extension that reads highlighted text aloud using your browser's built-in speech synthesis. It is designed to work entirely offline and locally on your device.
Read Aloud does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, browsing data, or text content. None of the text you highlight is sent to any server, API, or third party.
The extension saves three user preferences locally on your device using Chrome's storage API: your chosen voice, cadence, and volume settings. These values never leave your browser.
Read Aloud does not use any third-party services, analytics, tracking, or advertising. Speech synthesis is handled entirely by your browser's native SpeechSynthesis API.
The extension requests access to all URLs solely so its content script can run on any page where you choose to highlight text. It only activates when you trigger it via keyboard shortcut or right-click menu. No page content is read or accessed in the background.
